when i had small tots at home, we would watch The Neverending Story. my children liked all the fantasy involved and i enjoyed seeing Val Kilmer hanging in a cage. of course it was of a story that never ended.
on Friday that is how i felt about my run. only lets change the title to My NeverEnding Nightmare. my soon to be friend Bob Gentile from Florida did not know that when he posted a picture if me on his blog that he was really posting a challenge. side by side where pictures of him pulling his tire on the flat Floridian sidewalk while i was pulling my tire up a hill. as i have found, sidewalks are tougher then they appear and Bob pulls his tire for 3 hours which i had never even thought of doing. i was out to one up him. (poor guy, he didn't even know about my new contest)
the location? Indian Truck Trail. a 2600 foot climb in 7 miles and back again.
the day? last Friday during the rainstorm that hit from the north.
the outcome? i pulled my tire for 4 hours and 42 minutes of pure cold torture.
i started out wearing one top, one long sleeve half zip and a rain poncho. i ended up with the same top and long sleeve half zip, two windbreakers, rain poncho and Georges army rain coat from off his back. what a guy! i will not be doing anything like this in the near future. i think i will stick to a 3 hour limit. when all was said and done, i was a very wet, cold but happy girl!
well i sorta jacked up my run on Saturday so i will have to try it again tomorrow. i was just too worn out and had nothing left in me. this week will be an easy one. i am gearing up for Death Valley camp in just over a week. i will be bringing my tire and will have some stories to tell for sure. i am prepared to give it my best shot but i plan to be blown away by the competition...

Hey my TIRE pulling BUDDY,OK now I am nervous :-( I have only just started this tire pulling exercise on April 1st (ya the fool I think was me when people where taking pics--LOL) anyways I did do three hours & it was rough but I did it only once so far...most have been 1:30 - 2 hours BUT the killer was a few days ago when I went from a 20lb to a 30lb tire for an hour-- actually pissed me off that it was that much harder :-(
OK let's talk about camp, don't start freaking me out already about competing. I am a NEWbie just trying to find my way in this world of Ultras :-)
OK now that that sounded pretty lame I am going to kick your BUTT!! --hehe ahh that's sounds better huh
I have a newfound respect for your determination. 4 hours and 42 minutes. Wow!
