well i wondered the same thing and after asking my friend George what this tire pulling was going to do for me, he forwarded me this quote from his coach...
makes you run like a stallion.
keeps your running form perfect and works your core
it also works your up and down hill muscles even when you are on the flats.

so there you have it... come June i will be running like a stallion. can hardly wait!
this morning i got up and out of the house for my 5 mile run. i noticed that my legs were tired and it felt like the type of run where you just turn around and go home. but i am learning. i will feel like this long before mile 80 and i will still need to press on. so i just kept running on tired dead legs making fun of myself and what i was doing to my Saturday 50K. all good practice for WS. i did notice that as tired as i felt, the ups were a breeze and went by hardly noticed. i like this 5 mile run of mine. it serves as a good measuring stick. i can see my progress.
i am ready for Way Too Cool. tired or not, i am not afraid and will take what comes my way. i am planning a full week of training, no tapering for me. the past weeks my long runs have been 31, 22, 20 and this week 31. i will not be seeing anything under 20 very often now. time to amp it up a notch, says my trail mate (phrase coined by Baz). off to pilates...
remember... All trails lead to Auburn.

I don't have my own blog but at least I can get a mention on yours. :)
When I did an internet search on tire pulling, most of the articles were about training sled dogs to pull. If it is good training for sled dogs, it can't be bad.
jtn
you're gonna have to update us on the tire pulling. i might have to try that too. good luck in way too cool.
I can see a difference in the miles you are putting in but more than that I can see a big difference in the attitude. It is good to see you feeling, acting and talking this way. You are going to do this thing. Your friends. both runners and not, know it. Now that you know it things are good.
I am happy for you.
