get it, got it, good!

89 days
and counting

i had a 9am date this morning with the trail. i work best when i arrange things on the hour or on the half. so i left my house at 8:30 and made a quick stop at startbucks (chell'b's drug of choice). with a tall mocha light there is only 140 calories. some times i get a chocolate milk and have it blended. there are 12 oz in a tall. but that was not breakfast. breakfast was a piece of Ezekiel toast with peanut butter and some oatmeal with protein powder mixed in.

9:00, all fueled up and ready to go. 7 miles up, i was 10 minutes faster than last week. on the way down a listened to some music and just felt great. total trip was 2:57 . 12 minutes faster, better or stronger then last week and feeling so great! at the top on Main Divide i had half a Whole Food Bar which is very alkaline and is 80% raw food. on the way down i had a cliff shot. i drank water that whole way and at the bottom i finished my Whole Food Bar. on the way home i stopped at El Pollo Loco for some chicken, rice and beans. no soda. i have been drinking Emergan-C instead of soda.

this has been an all round good day. a friend of mine told me that the first hour of the day can determine how your day will go. me not being a morning person, have been trying to greet the day with enthusiasm. it seemed to work this morning. i went out to get it, i got it and i feel good!

all trails lead to Auburn.

If Ultra-running hasn't turned you into a morning person than nothing will.Luckily, I am very much a morning person, but into bed by 8:30 for me.

Yeah, Starbucks Rocks!!! Hey-starting in a week or so, your favorite corner coffee joint will be selling hot steaming fresh breakfast sandwiches. Perfect to but a smile on your early morning face. I had one up in Marin before a race a couple of months ago and they are really wonderful. Not being a danish person (That's danish, not Danish!), I fancy the hearty alternative to their all-sweets food menu. Anyway, something to look forward to.

I've only seen American Idol once. I just remember feeling sorry for most of them. There was one judge than was universally brutal to everyone. Like the math teacher that gives everyone nothing higher than a C.

Go Turbo!

Emer'gen-C is great stuff, easy to add to water and you can get water anywhere. If you want a little pick me up forget the water and take the powder straight. Good stuff, and anything that can replace soda in ones life is a great thing. Nasty stuff that soda. Try some Yerba Mate hot in the morning, more great stuff.

I love that your eating is going so well, gotta get that protein but I have a tough time with protein powder in my oatmeal, good for you that you can make it work. Get away from the instant stuff if that is what you are doing and go for the steel-cut oats (also known as Irish Oatmeal) very good for you and great complex carb energy.

I love watching your progress here and love that you are getting into the mental aspect of life. Let is spill heavily into your training and the rest of your life and nothing is impossible.

You are an inspiration, thank you.

dear anonymous, i have never tried Emer'gen-C straight. good tip, thanks. and i only eat steal cut oats. i boil 4 cups of water and turn off the heat. then i add 1 cup of steal cut oats, cover and let it sit all night long. when i wake up in the morning it's all ready for me. just heat and eat. i store the rest for the week. never heard of Yerba Mate. what is it and where can i get some?
