taking care of business

And I'll be... {Refrain} Taking care of business every day Taking care of business every way I've been taking care of business, it's all mine Taking care of business and working overtime Work out!

as sung by Bachman-Turner Overdrive and that is just how i felt today. i started off with an 8 am session of pilates and then came home for a quick change. before noon i was back out at Bluejay with my tire to pull it up the Main Divide. i had just run that with George on Saturday. i was not happy with my pussy footing down theTrabuco trail and tried really hard to leave my fear at the top of the hill. pulling the tire took me 40 minutes to get up to the top of the hill. i stashed my tire and headed for the single track that gave me such a problem on saturday. those who know me best know that i can be quite stubborn. i am trying to use this to my advantage. for instance, being stubborn could be skipping a run this morning because it was cold and i was tired. or being stubborn could be going out and redoing the part of the trail that i was not happy with on saturday. ok, back to the trail... after stashing my tire, i started down the scary dark trail trying hard to be careful and not fall. i wore long pants just in case. i ran down to the designated area where i had planned to turn around and come back up. looking at my watch, it had only taken me 7 minutes to get down to that point. i did not want to go down any further because of the "scary" factor so i decided to go back up and do it again. on the way back up i thought of all the things that i was scared of. scared of being last. scared of tripping. scared of another sprained ankle. scared of anything that made a noise. terrified of anything that could eat me! and not too excited about running into drug smugglers or anything of the sort that walked in an upright position. especially when they say something mean or look at me sideways. ok, that is a lot to be scared of. "now let's do it again" stubborn me says. so down into the dark woods i go again with the stylings of the "pussycat dolls" to keep me company on my mp3. (yeah, that will scare them away!) once back to the top, i retrieved my tire and ran back down the Main Divide. i noticed a white truck coming up. must be a forest service truck. i thought they were all green. i moved to the outside for safety reasons remembering all too well my near death experience at 9 Trails. he stopped and waited for me to pass by. he said to me "you're dragging something" and i said "yeah i know, isn't it cute?" that is not what i was thinking while i was dragging it up the hill. in fact i was trying to find a place to ditch it early, but didn't and let the stubborn me win for today.

and that, my friends is how to take care of business! my WTRS report from saturday can be found here

Uh.... dragging a tire behind you, up and over those killer hills? Does the tire have little wheels on it?

This reminds me of that movie The Mission, with Robert Deniro, where has to pull bundles of large rocks up sheer cliff sides to pay for his transgressions. DId you see this movie? Good one. Anyway, you are serious? Or are you just kidding about the tire? How come Rocky never did this?

Glad the 18k was fun. I had to rest a badly sprianed ankle so i can run the 20k in 2 weeks. Hope to see youz there.

Peace
