i ran with the hottest guy this morning!

this is my son riley. he is 12 years old. he asked me to wake him up this morning so that he could run with me. today happens to be a holiday so up and adam we were off to the plateau.

our run was short and sweet. we ran between the raindrops, it was wet and cold. he asked me if i always run this slow and would this speed get me a 3:50 at a marathon. i told him no it wouldn't. then he wanted to know if i could finish Western States at this speed. i told him "yes, i think i could". we talked about basketball and which teams had been his favorite, what coaches he liked the best and what high school he would like to play at.

he asked me if his sisters would ever be coming home again to live. "no" i told him "i think they are pretty much on their own" shea has her boyfriend cameron and taylor, well she is just a free spirit.

we talked about going bowling today and out to lunch. he was concerned and wanted to know who would be paying for lunch, me or dad. i told him that it didn't matter and that it all came from the same source. and then we got to talk about how lucky he was and had such a great dad (that would be husband to me). and we are extremely lucky to have someone love us and take such great care of us.

races are fun. friends are important and great to have. shoes are the bomb... but times like these are priceless.

I've done training runs and races with my oldest son and wife. The times weren't PR's, but these runs were the best!
