i have some of the greatest friends that help to motivate me. today i pulled the tire for an hour at the plateau. that was for george. i ran in a horseshoe and then turned around and did it again. it took me longer on the way back as i knew that it would... more uphill. i played the "anita" game. i learned this little trick while running with her at some races. you pick a spot and run to it, if you can still run then keep going. and this is how it went for an hour.
as i ran up the final little spat to my car, there were two mt. bikers, a guy and a girl looking at me strangely (tire in tow). i took this as a compliment. well, wouldn't you???
the next leg of my work out was to run hill repeats. this i did for gabor. for 30 minutes i ran up the hill and jogged down. i did this eight times, each time marking it off by placing a stone on the gate. this helps me visually to get it done.
sometimes during a run something special happens like seeing the snow covered mountains, enjoying the crisp winter air or hearing a favorite song. that was the kind of run i was able to enjoy today and it would not have happened if it were not for my friends who i lean heavily on. when i don't believe in myself, they do it for me.
a special friend (a certain trail princess from CO) left me with these thoughts this morning...
...you never hate HAVING gotten out of bed and ran.
and this little tip... "increasing success by lowering expectations".
thank you princess of the badwater double!
what's up for tomorrow??? pilates and power walking for an hour. and don't forget to see who gets voted off Idol... i will post my predictions for sure!
