a fluid run

four miles this morning. it took me 48 minutes which is a good 15 minutes slower then i used to run this loop a few years ago. i mentally prepared myself for this run with the start out slow and stay slow approach. i read it in an e-mail sent to me by george about a runner who has bad races when he starts out running and feeling good. he crashes and burns. when he starts out slower then what he feels like running, he makes it to the finish line. i have always had a hard time with this train of thinking. coming from a marathon back round, any walking meant to me that i had failed that day. if i was running over a 9:30 pace, again i thought that i had failed. now to run 12 and 13 minute miles and even walking mixed in has really challenged my psyche. one thing that i do know however...speed will not get me to auburn. strength, tenacity, smart training and believing in myself will. and that is all i have to say about it!

day off tomorrow and a long run on saturday. can't wait. i get to see some friends!

oh, and my ankle is still feeling better. not perfect but oh so much better.
