and not a moment too soon! this was the fifth year for this race and the hottest year that they have had yet. almost half the field dropped or took the 100K option. even champion michelle barton had a tough time this year with the heat and sand.i made a plan to get me through my rough section of last year and i stuck to it. i came out of mile 75 (where i quit last year) feeling fine and ready for more. sometime during the dark hours i miss judged my footing and stepped through a sandy wash wrong and hyper extended my knee. it did not cause a real problem until mile 90 where i could not run any longer. george had worked his magic again for me though and we had built in plenty of time to cushion us. at mile 90 i was joined by dana who paced us in the rest of the way. he and tucker did an awesome job and took many great pictures which i accidentally deleted. (cry!)
i had so much fun seeing my friends and everyone helping everyone else out! Hwa Ja is a true champ! Kirk finished his first 100. Bob Becker, so glad you joined us during the night. Christina ran with style. Shannon was super mom after just giving birth. Jacki has a new PR. Gabor is my maniac 100 mile friend. Chell'b showed us class. now that it is over, i had fun!
all my pictures are gone so if someone has any, could you send them this way? i would appreciate it very much. or..... i might just have to go back and do it all over again next year!

Congratulations on completing the "Leigh-Leigh" Slam. You should be proud of all have have accomplished this year. It has been great following you and our buddy George as you knocked off one race after another. Take care.

thanks mark. JJ was really really hard, i am not sure why that is so but it is. i should have been faster but was prevented from doing so the last 10 miles. great race, great people!!! i am very happy that i went back to finish it.
George has had an amazing year! i am very proud of him! and let's not forget about you Mr. Grand Slam Mark!!!
