word...

stage one was the hardest first stage in the history of the MDS. we started with a bang!!! 10 strait miles of ginormous sand dunes. the night before i started to get sick and woke up with a terrible problem that has stayed with me even today. the start of the first day greeted us with horrific early morning winds and our tent had to be patched up during the night. getting ready for the start was a challenge. we were very cold. it was an 18 mile first day and i really struggled with being ill. today was stage two and it went much better for me. it was about 22 miles long and very hot crossing salt flats. i will be taking it easy tomorrow to prepare for the long stage. loved the emails! they kept me going!! thanks! love Leigh
