Got a call from Leigh today at 11:20 a.m. MDT: She was in New York at JFK—she and George had been napping a bit there on the floor at the airport. She forgot to pack her running watch and is hoping she can find one to buy there before leaving the country. Four others heading over to MDS had joined them but by the time they make the flight over the big, blue, wet thingy they will have more than 20 MDS participants with them. I suggested they all sing campfire songs throughout the flight. They will fly from JFK to Casablanca , and from there over to Ouarzazate.

This is the last phone conversation I will have with her until she touches down in New York on her return trip—here’s hoping the email system they have in place works and I get her race updates! About that email system: my understanding is that it won’t be operational until the 28th or the 29th so there won’t be much to report between now and then.
