a diamond of a day

George and i ran the Diamond Valley Marathon with our packs today. mine weighed 12 pounds and George's? who knows at least 20. the weather was to die for, the crowd was small, the volunteers were cheerful. it was a great day. with a finishing time of 6:17, i am very pleased to announce that i blew away my competition! ha! which was a gentleman in his 70's and a woman walking the whole way. (she could move!) not to mention i took out the sick and crippled too!

it was a great training day and i loved my new pack. inside i was carrying rice. thanks mike for that tip! if anyone is looking for a gentle low key marathon, definitely check this one out. it's a beauty and will give you a fast time. after all, i did win the "12 pound on the back weight division"! smiles.... Nice work! Great idea to put rice in your pack - I'll remember that since I need to do some training with a pack soon too. You will do awesome at MDS!
