i arrived in Provo yesterday to cold temps and rain. my daughter shea picked me up from the airport and we had lunch in Salt Lake. later we went to her salon and she cut my hair. over 5 inches were laying on the floor. here is the after. nothing too daring. the reason for my visit to provo is that on saturday i will be running the squaw peak 50 mile endurance run through the mountains and into the back country. this is a fun and beautiful course and i am looking forward to being back on it!
today i was reunited with one of my BFF'S ~ Brad. we went for a 6 mile run. about a mile into the run he looked at me and said "how the he!! did you get ahead of me two years ago? i don't remember you running this slow". well that's what i get for not running marathons anymore.
at the turnaround 3 miles out i decided to school brad on what it is like to actually finish 50 miles as he has had several attempts at running Squaw Peak without a finish to his name. ;)
we loosely went over our race plans and talked about how to limit our aid station visits which in the past have turned into what have seemed as a party of sorts. way too much time spent with family and friends... i showed him the art of power walking which i doubt very much that he will do. i showed him the various games that i have made up to get me through the rough spots. he wont do those either. two things i know and they are that once we start running, i wont see brad again and the second thing is that he will be waiting for me at the finish, cuz that is just the kind of nice guy that he is!...
i have several friends running 100 miles races this saturday also. Blog Bob will be running his first 100 out at Kettle. he will be in great company with his peep Tom Truimph and Terry will be running also. back in California Greg and Marisa will be running their first 100 mile race in the rugged mountains of San Diego. they will be joined be George, Gabor, Andy and Catra and others. good luck to each of you.

Two attempts; and yes, you can call me a wuss!
No posts for three weeks. Where have you been? I needed rest, I guess. Good luck with Squaw Peak.
