fun at Orange Curtain

this race is one that i love to hate! the course is flat, on pavement with not much to look at. up and back for three miles a total of 10 times, passing the park bathrooms a total of 10 times and the pony farm a total of 10 times with the aromatic scent of the cute beast lingering in the air. ummmmmm, wow! also viewing the scenic Walmart.. yes you got it, a total of 10 times.

but with the not so pleasant comes the fun, wonderful and miraculous! you get to pass friends numerous times. i got to walk the first 6 miles with George and Gary. Gary said that he was going to walk the whole 50K. that didn't happen and he ended up beating me. it has been a mere 6 months since Gary had almost lost his life in a motorcycle accident. to be completing a 50K so soon is simply a miracle. i had fun spending some time with Gary. it was also great to see Hwa Ja "spank the course" she completed the 100k and is well on her way with her Western States training. Gabor also finished the 100K. Gary informed me that Gabor had completed 4 loops around the Rose Bowl for his training. good for you Gabs...... Carmela was fun to watch as she ran her way to a 100K finish. i was most impressed with Kirk Fortini. he really stuck it out all the way to the boring end. and of course i got to see my friend Beanie Pat. Manny and Dina stopped by for a bit. Andy was helping at the aid station and Catra was at the start and finish with some Cross Fit in between.

please enjoy some pictures of the day by clicking here.
