Javalina Jundred 08

This was done by my friend Bob.
We ran the first 15 miles together and had a wonderful time. He was so excited and had everything planned to the last gel. This was Bob's first 100 mile finish. He did a great job, well mostly. I did catch him going the wrong way. He just had to go the hard way twice. That's what you get when you are "Wrong Way Bob" (and when you tell the world that i was flashing the photographer. not true and you know it! :)

Here I am with Bob and Tony. They came all the way from the east coast to run here and both were finishers. So much fun to be around!!!

George and I minutes before the start. George has been injured so he planned to walk the 100k. what impressed me the most about his performance was not that he got it done but rather that he got it done without running. (well except for ten miles) I know how hard it is to hold back when you want to run so bad and you have to watch everyone else have all the fun.
Very proud of you George!

Michelle and Jamie gal paling it up in the early miles.

Here are some of the wild horses that tried to drag Bob away....

A beautiful place.

My friend Gabor stops for a picture.

Here I am with my wonderful pacer Eric and my friend Kirk.

Some alone miles. I had a great day.

How many times did we pass this guy?

The night was tough on me. Here is the sun just coming up. it took forever. My only goal for this race was to come into mile 75 by 3:30. I got there about 1:30. the next 25 were slow going. I did not feel too well. The aid stations took such great care of the runners. Thank you Robert. You were the best. You got me re-focused and back on my feet.

Here is my friend Peggy finishing. I had so much fun trailing after her during the day. She is such a strong runner. During the night she almost gave up. Glad you kept going Peggy.

Here I am coming into the finish with my pacer Eric. Eric was with me for that last 40 miles. I was not much fun but for someone so new at this, he was excellent. I feel very fortunate to have had Eric as my pacer. He knew just what to do. I cried during the last 40 miles but my tears at the finish were tears of relief. I think Eric's were tears of gratitude for he did just what he had come to do and he got his runner through some difficult spots and to the finish line safely. Thank You Eric!
