last long run completed

i would like to congratulate all my friends that ran Holcomb Valley yesterday. sounds like they all had a great run. Michelle with her 5th course record in a row (Can't Stop Me Now) and George with a pr of over an hour and a half (Cause I'm Having Such A Good Time...) great job guys, wish i was there too but i have officially started my taper as of Thursday. i wasn't planning on starting til Saturday but my body decided for me.

on thursday i picked our run. i wanted something really really good. so i picked part of the San Juan 50K. this ended up being a 22 mile, 5 and a half hour kick my butt 14:40 pace day. with an elevation gain and loss of 4,600. just when you find the down hill and prepare to run, you can't. and on the way back, you can see the highway and the candy store. they happen to be down there. so why are we still climbing. crazy but so happy when we finished. that will be my last long and hard run. here is George filling up our water at the Blue Jay camp ground.

the poison oak is still out and in full bloom. i did not pick any up this trip. lucky me!

i was really happy how this run went. i felt that i was not going fast enough and was disappointed with my effort until i realised what pace i was on. did you know that numbers and I do not get along. numbers have caused me much effort and anxiety. my husband Dana told me that there is only one number that i need to worry about and that number is George.
if i just put my trust in George, he will get me through.

so, with super duper mid week run out of the way my friday and saturday runs were no more then a walk. i think that sometimes it is just smart to listen to your body and mine was done for the week. we did run into this little guy though. can you see him? looks like he was not as excited to see us as we were to see him. that is a raised tail looking us square in the eyes.... and we also came upon two doe and a young buck.

this week will be easy running with plenty of watching The Secret, Running Madness and A Race for the Soul. also getting my drop bags ready and packing. i will be leaving one week from tomorrow.

a big "Shout Out" to my son Tucker who turned 16 today! here he is playing point guard for Murrieta Valley. he will be having some big news shortly, so stay tuned........
