this is Robert Bairds fault... :)

Today started out like almost any other Monday. It was raining and I called my friend Jacki on my way to work. I also got a few text messages from Kira. Something was in the air... Yes, today started out like ALMOST any other Monday.

This all started with a message many months ago from my friend Robert. He said that he would crew for me when I run Badwater. Badwater???? Isn't that the race that other people run and I crew for them??? That got me thinking and I thought, "why not?" Why not try to get in. So I applied last month. Today was the day that we would find out. So I came to work armed and dangerous wearing my Badwater cap and carrying my lap top... and not afraid at all to use it at work to check my emails. 9:30 and the official Badwater email was sitting in my in- box. What do I do? Open it now? Wait? I can't wait so I took a deep breath and opened it. The word CONGRATULATIONS popped right out at me and I called Dana, so excited. It has been a busy busy day. Some of my friends made it in and some did not, but all have been wonderfully supportive. Thank you FRIENDS! So Badwater this summer it is. And it's a good thing since I have already started my Badwater training by running 50 miles in Death Valley last weekend. Ok, so it was a bit like running in a meat locker.

Last weekend I ran the Death Valley Titus Canyon Marathon. It rained and rained and they closed Titus Canyon down. We had to run the marathon on a dirt road just minutes away from Badwater. That was 26 miles of mud, nothing but mud. And a lot of rain.

The next day I planned to run Titus Canyon but it was still closed. I was then going to run the marathon course again but it was closed also. In fact every single place that I wanted to run was shut down so I walked out of my hotel room and started running for home. I ran myself right out of Death Valley for 25 miles.

It was cold but managed to stay dry long enought for me to finish,

and the sunset was spectacular!

So, today started out to be like almost any other Monday. Almost.....

THANKS ROBERT!

Yeah, I'm a bit late getting around to congratulating you, but I did send you a text. I guess that means I'll be running the Buffalo Run alone... and that's ok. It's all good.

Turbocorbin is BIGTIME!
